Why visit Makadi Bay
The bay itself is the star: a horseshoe of shallow, protected water with a healthy fringing reef that starts less than 50 metres from the shoreline. Snorkelling from the beach at Jaz Makadi Oasis or Steigenberger is genuinely world-class — you rarely need to book a boat trip to see butterflyfish, parrotfish and the occasional turtle.
Away from the water, Makadi hosts one of the region's few genuinely fun waterparks (Makadi Water World) and a small central promenade — Makadi Heights — with an Italian gelateria, an Irish pub and a handful of shops. It's compact enough to walk between hotels without a taxi, which is not something you can say about most Red Sea resort areas.
Families choose Makadi because the beaches are gently sloped, the reef break kills any real surf, and almost every resort runs an all-inclusive package with a dedicated kids' club. Divers and couples come for the easy access to Abu Hashish and Small Giftun boat sites, which are 20–30 minutes offshore.

Transfer duration & the drive
The drive from Hurghada Airport to Makadi Bay is a straight run south on the Safaga Highway, bypassing downtown Hurghada entirely. Expect 25 to 35 minutes depending on the time of day and which resort you're headed to — Sunwing at the southern end adds five minutes over Steigenberger at the northern gate. The road is dual-carriageway the whole way and in good condition, so it's a smooth ride even for guests arriving on late-night flights.

Every Makadi Bay transfer is booked at a fixed EUR price agreed the moment you complete the form. €15 covers a private sedan from the airport to any Makadi hotel, €12 back to the airport, and €27 for the round trip — regardless of whether you land at 6 am on a Sunday or midnight on New Year's Eve. There are no distance meters, no per-bag charges, and no night-time surcharges. Payment is made in cash to the driver on arrival: EUR, USD, GBP or Egyptian Pound all accepted.
