Downtown Hurghada is the only genuinely walkable, mixed-use district on the Red Sea coast. El Mamsha promenade runs roughly 4 km along the seafront with restaurants, shisha lounges, boutiques and cafés — an evening stroll here is the closest thing to a European seaside town in Egypt.
Hurghada Marina is the nightlife anchor: about 30 restaurants and bars around a working yacht harbour, plus dive centres, day-boat operators and a small souk. Prices are noticeably lower than in the gated resort compounds and the atmosphere is livelier.
For visitors who actually want to see Egypt rather than a resort bubble, downtown is where you go — Sakkala for the old town feel, El Dahar for the traditional souk, and easy access to city hospitals, pharmacies, banks and mobile-network shops that resort areas simply don't have.
