Hurghada to the Pyramids and back
Cairo is roughly a six-hour drive from Hurghada, or a short domestic flight. Either way, a day trip is entirely doable and remains the single most requested excursion on the Red Sea coast — because nothing prepares you for standing at the base of the Great Pyramid.
The classic itinerary covers the Giza plateau with its three pyramids and the Sphinx, a stop at a panoramic viewpoint for photographs, and the Egyptian Museum or the Grand Egyptian Museum, depending on the day and your interests. Lunch is included, and there is usually time for a papyrus or perfume workshop if you want it.
By road, you leave in the early hours and return late at night; by air, the day is shorter and considerably more comfortable, with domestic flights from Hurghada to Cairo taking under an hour. We arrange both, with a private Egyptologist guide and an air-conditioned vehicle in Cairo.
